Bio
Don Ruth, FAIBD, NCBDC
Don specializes in the design of custom, luxury and estate residences; remodels and additions and is certified by the NCBDC (CPBD); a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) and holds a professional certification in electronics (CET). He was elected to the College of Fellows (FAIBD) in 1996, the design institutes highest honorable body.
Don was the third recipient of AIBD’s National “Designer of the Year” award and Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications award in 1996. His articles, designs and interviews have been published in numerous forms of the national media. He has over 30 years experience in the design of award winning homes.
Active in affairs affecting the building design profession, Don is a past National Vice President and National Secretary/Treasurer of the American Institute of Building Design; a founding member, past President and Secretary of AIBD, North Carolina Society and a past National Vice President and member of the Board of Examiners of NCBDC. He served on the AIBD National Board of Directors from 1991-1997, and has served as a past National of AIBD’s Internal Affairs, Publications and Finance Committees.
Don is a former Continuing Education Instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College; member of the 1988-1990 NCHBA Building Codes Committee; past member of the Guilford Technical Community College Architectural Technology DACUM panel; past member of the Forsyth/Winston-Salem Adhoc Building Codes Committee; a past Associate Editor and Graphics Editor of Design Line Magazine.
